Who is responsible
Richard Green is the data controller for the personal information collected through this website. You can reach him at contact@richardgreenauthor.co.uk.
What you send, and what happens to it
If you send a message, the form collects your name, your email address and your message. If you sign up for news, it collects your email address. Either way it is emailed to Richard so he can reply to you or, for a sign-up, add you to his mailing list. It is not used for anything else and is never sold or shared for marketing.
The emails are delivered by Resend (Resend, Inc.), which sends them on Richard's behalf. The website is hosted by Vercel Inc.
Why Richard may use your information
- Replying to your message: his legitimate interest in answering people who get in touch with him.
- The mailing list: your consent, given when you sign up. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing Richard, and you will be taken off the list.
- Google Analytics: your consent, given by pressing Accept on the cookie banner. You can withdraw it at any time with the Change my cookie choice button below.
How long it is kept
Messages sent through the website are kept for 12 months and then deleted. If you join the mailing list, your email address is kept until you ask to come off it.
Cookies and Google Analytics
No cookies that the site does not need are set until you agree. On your first visit you are asked, with Reject and Accept side by side.
If you accept, the site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. It uses cookies and records things like your rough location and the kind of device you use. It does not tell Richard who you are, and nothing is used for adverts.
If you reject, no Analytics cookies are set. Google receives only signals that carry no cookies and nothing that identifies you, which it uses to estimate totals. You can change your choice at any time.
Spotify playlists
The Listening Companion pages show Spotify's own player, loaded from Spotify. When you use it, Spotify's privacy policy and cookie notice apply, not this one.
Taps on the phone and WhatsApp buttons
When you tap the phone number or WhatsApp button, the site counts the tap: which button, which page, the time, and whether you came from a Google advert. It sets no cookie, stores nothing on your device and keeps nothing that identifies you (no IP address and no details of your device), whatever you chose about cookies. The count is used to see how many people get in touch.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information Richard holds about you, or object to how it is used. Email contact@richardgreenauthor.co.uk. If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
